Zhitang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
West-central Zhejiang. The Zhitang Fm was named by Liu Hongyun and Sha Qing'an (1959). The type section is located at Zhitang village, Longyou County, Zhejiang Province.
Synonym: (志堂组)
Lithology and Thickness
The Zhitang Fm consists of three parts above a basal purple-red conglomerate to sandy conglomerate. Lower and Middle parts are tuffaceous siltstone, fine-grained sandstone with tuffite. Upper part is mainly siltstone with silty shale. The Zhitang Formation is 600-800 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Zhitang Fm is conformable with the underlying Banxi Gr. [However, schematic stratigraphic column #61 indicates it overlies the Shangshu Fm.]
Upper contact
The top is conformably overlain by the Leigongwu Fm [However, schematic stratigraphic column #61 indicates it underlies the Gucheng Fm tillite of lower Ediacaran.]

West-central Zhejiang.

Fossils
Microplants are found in phyllite and interbedded silty shale in Dapokeng villege of Kaihua County, such as: Pulvinomorpha sp., Turuchanica sp., Margominuscula rugosa, Leiopsophosphaera sp., L. densa etc.
